Saudi Arabia's accession to the Hague Convention 1961

Following the Saudi Arabia accession to the Hague Convention 1961, abolishing the requirement of further legalisation by the Saudi Arabian Consulate effective from 8^th December 2022, it has come to our attention that the Consulate has now COMPLETELY STOPPED ACCEPTING SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTS FOR LEGALISATION EFFECTIVE FROM LAST MONDAY 13^TH FEBRUARY.

Although this was supposed to be effective from 8^th December 2022, the Consulate was still accepting documents for legalisation after that date as per requirements from local authorities in Saudi Arabia. However, for documents submitted to the Consulate earlier this month it is not guaranteed that they will return stamped by the Consulate.

Please note that commercial documents may still require to be attested by the Arab Chamber of Commerce and this is discretionary to the local requesting party in Saudi Arabia. The attestation by the London and Arab Chambers of Commerce will still be available for commercial documents for use in Saudi Arabia.
